The Impact:

The Sr. Director of Technology Sourcing Category Management will act as a key leader in advancing the value and impact derived by the S&P Global Sourcing organization across our technology spend, in collaboration with both technology and business leaders across the enterprise. The role involves developing and executing long‑term sourcing strategies for technology categories such as hardware, software, SaaS, cloud and managed services. While managing key stakeholder relationships to optimize spend and mitigate risk. This leadership position requires strong skills in market analysis, cost management, contract negotiation strategy, and cross‑functional collaboration to drive cost efficiency and align with strategic business objectives.

Reporting Line:
  • Direct: Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) & Head of Source to Pay
  • Next Level Management: Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) & Head of Enterprise Business Services
Strategy Development:
  1. Lead creation of a rolling 5‑year plan for pursuing savings and value‑added opportunities in these categories.
  2. Establish bold cost‑take‑out goals and drive cost‑saving initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  3. Develop a multi‑year sourcing projects plan to deliver cost savings, support innovation and ensure continuity of service. Be highly effective at aligning Sourcing timelines to Technology roadmaps to provide flexibility for change while ensuring continuity of service.
  4. Stay abreast of Technology trends and supplier strategies to effectively support Technology and business partners, identify cost savings opportunities and drive innovation via new sourcing models and Technologies.
  5. Be a leader in how S&P global implements and leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the enterprise. To optimize commercial/client‑side opportunities and internal efficiencies while mitigating associated risks.
Supplier Management:

Lead supplier relationship management (SRM) for strategic suppliers, including performance reviews and risk mitigation.

Negotiation:

Collaborate with colleagues on complex and strategic negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, manage contracts, drive cost savings, and optimize long‑term overall value to the firm.

Stakeholder Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across departments like engineering, finance, and legal to understand their needs and gain buy‑in for sourcing strategies.

Partnership Management:

Act as the key liaison to the S&P Chief Client Office (CCO) in developing mutually beneficial holistic partnership relationships with our key technology vendors.

Risk Management:

Monitor and mitigate supplier‑related risks, such as financial stability, compliance, and cybersecurity.

Cost and Spend Analysis:

Conduct detailed cost and spend analyses, perform market benchmarking, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency.

Procurement Process Leadership:

Manage the end‑to‑end sourcing processes, including RFIs, RFPs, due diligence, and bid evaluation.

Compliance:

Ensure all sourcing activities and contracts comply with company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Team Leadership:

Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing sourcing team.

Must be fluent English language speaker. Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years proven experience in a sourcing and procurement leadership role, preferably within the financial services sector and a blue‑chip environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in building strategic partnerships both internally and externally with key stakeholders and vendors with deep knowledge of vendors and trends to inform category planning.
  • Prior management consulting or similar experience with a proven record in: Procurement Operating Model and Process Design, delivering large‑scale procurement transformations across various industries, advised C‑level management in their strategic blueprints based on data analysis, experience, expertise, and an innovative approach.
  • Proven track record in challenging the "status quo," creating transparency, helping stakeholders and partners understand the implications of their costs, synthesizing and advising how to improve.
  • Must have experience using e‑Sourcing tools (e.g. Ariba, Sirion Labs, Celonis etc.).
  • Proven success in developing and executing IT sourcing strategies across complex environments.
  • Deep expertise in software, SaaS, hardware, cloud and IT managed services sourcing, with strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage procurement technologies and data to drive decisions.
  • Ability to build strong cross‑functional relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with risk management and compliance frameworks within sourcing.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Detail‑oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and integrity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams and adapt to a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.B.A. a plus.
  • Minimum 2 days per week or 9 days per month (office availability).

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $148,257 to $259,889.25. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
