I’m excited to be supporting a values-driven financial organisation in the charity sector as they recruit a newly created Head of Technology Portfolio Delivery for their banking division.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who combines hands‑on delivery leadership, genuine humility, and strong partner management skills, with the ability to run a complex change portfolio in an environment that’s collaborative, people‑centric and mission‑focused.

⭐ The Opportunity

Following a multi-year transformation and the successful re-platforming of their banking system, the organisation is entering a new chapter. With a strategic development partner owning most engineering delivery, they now need a dedicated leader to oversee:

  • A significant change backlog and post-go-live improvements
  • Continuous optimisation across cloud, cost, systems, and customer journeys
  • A structured small-change stream (fixes, enhancements, UX improvements)
  • Decommissioning of legacy platforms
  • Portfolio governance, prioritisation, and benefits realisation
  • Resource planning for both internal and partner teams

You’ll report to the CTO and sit on the Technology SLT, working with stakeholders across operations, technology, and banking leadership.

⭐ What You’ll Lead

Portfolio Management & Delivery Excellence

  • Own the full change portfolio and pipeline, ensuring clarity, prioritisation, and alignment to strategic objectives
  • Act as the escalation point and quality wrapper for all change initiatives
  • Oversee project governance, reporting, financial control, and benefit tracking
  • Manage the organisation’s non-production environment landscape

Partner & Vendor Management

  • Shape and strengthen the operating model with their strategic development partner
  • Ensure roles, responsibilities, and processes between parties are clearly defined and continuously improved

Leadership, Culture & Capability

  • Lead or matrix-manage a team of 10–15 (PMO, PMs, Analysts, Developers, Testers)
  • Build a culture of collaboration, proactivity, transparency, and continuous improvement
  • Promote hands‑on problem solving and root-cause analysis

Continuous Improvement

  • Refine portfolio processes, governance, sourcing strategies, and capacity planning
  • Implement meaningful metrics to track performance, quality, and delivery health
  • Support strategic sourcing and ensure external services are cost-effective and fit for purpose
