Are you an IFRS expert looking for a high-impact role within a global fintech company? Want to take the lead on complex financial reporting and help shape technical accounting strategy at Group level?

We’re hiring a Head of Technical Accounting to join our Group Finance team. Based in either our Edinburgh or London office, you will lead on providing expert technical guidance across the Group and play a key role in the delivery of high-quality Group financial statements.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant with a deep understanding of IFRS and experience navigating the complexities of group-level reporting in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll be doing:

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Group Corporate Controller, you will act as the key technical lead for our Group financial reporting, helping ensure our consolidated Group accounts meet all relevant standards. You will also provide trusted advice on accounting treatment for new and evolving projects. This is a key role withinthe Group finance team with visibility at Senior Leadership level.
  • Be the key contact to assess the accounting treatment of proposed transactions under IFRS, working closely with both Group and Regional finance teams.
  • Prepare technical papers on complex transactions such as revenue recognition, leases, business combinations and equity transactions, ensuring documentation is complete and audit ready.
  • Lead the research and implementation of new accounting policies and / or new regulations. Review and amend existing accounting policies.
  • Ensure the Group complies with relevant accounting standards and prepares accurate financial statements and disclosures.
  • Support the preparation and presentation of quarterly finance updates to the Audit Committee. Attendance at Audit Committee meetings to brief members of any findings.
  • Liaise with external auditors, addressing technical questions and presenting new treatments.
  • Design and deliver training on technical accounting for finance colleagues across the Group.
  • Continuously improve reporting templates, disclosures and internal processes.
Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

This role is ideal for a technically strong, qualified accountant who enjoys working with complex standards, partnering with stakeholders, and leading critical reporting processes.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Full professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ICAS, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Significant technical accounting experience with in-depth IFRS knowledge (5+ years).
  • In-depth technical knowledge of key standards including IFRS 15, IFRS 2, IFRS 9, IAS 36
  • Exceptional technical writing, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to distil complex accounting guidance to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work with and advise both finance and non-finance teams.
  • Experience drafting and reviewing statutory accounts for complex organisations
  • Strong report writing skills and attention to detail
  • Previous audit or large corporate accounting background preferred
  • Experience working with auditors, Audit Committees, and other specialists. Ability to manage external auditor relationships and contribute to clean audits
