Job summary

NHS England is inviting applications for an interim Head of School for Surgery in the Wessex region. The role focuses on improving learner supervision, assessment and experience while expanding multi-professional links and innovative curriculum delivery.

The post is contracted for services and candidates must secure release from clinical work for the designated PAs. The Head of School leads education providers, collaborates with the Postgraduate Dean, and engages with workforce transformation

Qualifications

• Considerable experience leading educational activity for learners or doctors in training.
• Experience in clinical and educational leadership with multi-professional teams.
• Proven track record delivering improvements in service delivery and education.
• Understanding of Colleges/Faculties, regulatory bodies and NHS structures.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Head of School and Education Providers to deliver evolving curricula and workforce wellbeing strategies.
• Improve learner supervision, assessment, and experience across the workforce.
• Collaborate across health and social care sectors to reflect changing service models.
• Drive workforce transformation and multi-professional links within the education portfolio.
