Job summary

Sussex Police seeks an experienced communications professional to join the Media and Communications Department as Head of Social Media on maternity cover. You will oversee our social media strategy, improve reach and engagement, and ensure compliance across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and WhatsApp.

You will use evidence and analytics to optimise campaigns, lead a senior team, and work with partners to deliver innovative storytelling for the public across Sussex.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering engaging social media strategy in a high-profile organisation.
• Degree or equivalent experience in marketing, PR, advertising or communications.
• Strong analytics and evidence-based approach to digital campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of social media strategy and governance across channels.
• Lead a team, including District Engagement Officers, on social media.Recruitment, retention and performance oversight.
• Develop content including video, text and imagery for platforms.
• Advise senior officers and external stakeholders on digital communications.
• Measure campaigns with analytics and improve public engagement.
• Horizon scan digital trends and inform force communications strategy.
• Coordinate training to upskill colleagues in social media use.
• Ensure ethical, legal and compliant use of social channels.
