Job summary

Marmion is seeking a Head of Ship Chartering - Short Sea Dry Bulk to lead and grow the chartering function across Northern Europe. The role combines hands-on broking with strategic leadership, overseeing performance, profitability and team development.

The successful candidate will manage a specialist desk, build a durable pipeline of fixtures, and travel regularly within the UK and Northern Europe, with hybrid work 3 days per week in office and senior stakeholder exposure.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in short sea dry cargo chartering.
• Strong knowledge of Northern European dry bulk trades, market dynamics, voyage economics.
• Proven ability to negotiate profitable fixtures and manage a profitable department.

Responsibilities

• Launch and lead the short sea dry cargo chartering department and strategy.
• Develop operational framework, governance, reporting structures, and KPIs.
• Own the department’s P&L, budgets and forecasts with regular leadership updates.
• Recruit, coach and develop a small chartering team and culture of accountability.
• Negotiate voyage and time charter fixtures; build relationships with owners, charterers and brokers.
