Head of Inspection and Repair Services (IMRS) - Submarines

Full time - Hybrid Derby (Sinfin IMRS)

What you will be doing

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Rolls‑Royce Submarines Services Delivery Business Unit to lead the Inspection Maintenance & Repair Services (IMRS) organisation. This is a critical capability which supports the UK Royal Navy by deploying unique engineering capabilities and developing state‑of‑the‑art technology to inspect and repair Nuclear Steam Raising Plant components. The role will be accountable for growing this capability to match the growth in maintenance demand from the UK fleet and the future international demand created by the AUKUS programme.

You will work as part of the senior leadership team of the Services business, leading Engineering Managers and a Project delivery team in IMRS and utilising support from other functions around the Submarines Business and the wider Submarines Enterprise. The work will be fast paced with challenging delivery dates and demand to grow the IMRS capability to meet future business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the IMRS organisation to deliver needed capability and work‑packages for various programmes.
  • Ensure that a world‑class capability is defined, developed, maintained and effectively utilised.
  • Provide products and services that satisfy Submarines Enterprise requirements.
  • Lead a team of 130 people, delivering commitments to time, cost and quality while adhering to Health, Safety and Welfare at the IMRS facility and remote customer sites.
  • Deliver the Flotilla and Waterfront contracts, managing contracts and delivery of activities to internal and external customers.
  • Promote and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement within and outside the immediate sphere, prompting action across the wider team.
  • Ensure the team acts in accordance with company values and behaviours, fostering a positive engagement culture.

The IMRS building is currently located at the Sinfin site, with plans to move to a larger site soon in the Derby area. Who We're Looking For
  • Highly skilled engineer with experience on cradle‑to‑grave design projects for bespoke NDE processes, techniques and equipment.
  • Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proven skills in planning, risk management and requirements capture and management.
  • Design and development experience, preferably for bespoke NDE equipment and associated technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles including design for assembly and maintenance, and health and safety.
  • Excellent knowledge of NDE solutions, products, systems, functionality and applications.
Security Clearance

To work for the Rolls‑Royce Submarines business an individual must hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls‑Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently have one. Only UK nationals or, in MoD approved cases, dual nationals are considered for progression.
