This is a senior leadership role within Scotland’s national dementia charity, offering the opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of people living with dementia, those at risk, and the families and carers who support them.

About Alzheimer Scotland

Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s leading charity for dementia and brain health, working to prevent, care for, and ultimately cure dementia, while ensuring nobody faces the condition alone. The organisation is member-led, supported by more than 8,000 members, over 500 volunteers, and around 400 staff delivering services across the country.

The charity is fully committed to Fair Work First and to supporting the development, wellbeing, and inclusion of its people.

The role

As Head of Services, you will play a key role during an exciting period of service redesign and development, helping to build sustainable, resilient, inclusive, and therapeutic registered day care and commissioned community supports of the highest quality.

Based in Inverness, you will lead and manage teams delivering services across the Highlands, Aberdeen, and Aberdeenshire. You will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and professional direction, ensuring services meet the needs of people living with dementia and those who care for them.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders, contributing to continuous improvement and supporting the long-term sustainability and growth of Alzheimer Scotland’s services.

What we are looking for

Applicants should have a proven track record of leadership within health and social care services or a closely related sector. You will demonstrate strong leadership skills, high emotional intelligence, and experience of managing people, supporting staff development, and promoting a positive organisational culture.

You should be an excellent communicator, highly organised, and collaborative in your approach, with substantial experience in the management and delivery of services. A high-level understanding of dementia and a relevant practice qualification meeting Scottish Social Services Council registered management requirements are essential.
