Job summary

We Do Social Work in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Head of Schools Admissions Service to provide strategic and operational leadership of the school admissions function within a Local Authority. You will have significant local authority experience, a strong education background and detailed knowledge of admissions legislation, processes and guidance.

Qualifications

• Education qualification or substantial professional experience in education.
• Proven leadership and people-management experience.
• Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience working with schools, academy trusts, senior officers and elected members.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Schools Admissions Service, ensuring an efficient, high-quality and customer-focused service.
• Ensure compliance with statutory admissions requirements, legislation and guidance.
• Develop and review admissions policies, procedures and service standards.
• Provide expert advice to senior leaders, elected members, schools, academy trusts and other partners.
• Lead, motivate and develop the admissions team.
• Manage complex admissions cases, appeals and in-year admissions.
• Monitor performance and deliver continuous service improvement.
• Work closely with Education, SEND, School Place Planning, Legal and Children s Services colleagues.
