Head of Quantitative Production London to £200k+

Are you a technical hands-on leader with power / energy trading experience who can turn quantitative research into reliable, scalable production systems?

You could be progressing your career at a rapidly scaling renewable energy business at the forefront of the transition to a more flexible, technology enabled energy system. With a growing portfolio of wind and solar assets across the UK, the business is expanding into energy trading and investing heavily in technology, automation and AI.

As the Head of Quantitative Production you'll shape the technology and production capability behind its expanding energy trading platform.

Reporting to the Head of Trading, you'll own the journey from quantitative research to live trading strategies, improving deployment speed, automation and production reliability. Collaborating with Quantitative Research, Trading, Data, Engineering and AI teams, you'll translate commercial priorities into a technology roadmap and build the processes and team needed to scale.

You'll lead the development of systems for forecasting, optimisation, algorithmic bidding and automated dispatch, while establishing robust standards for model validation, deployment, monitoring and incident response. You'll also identify technology and data bottlenecks, make build-versus-buy decisions and ensure production investment delivers measurable commercial value.

This is a hands-on leadership role with significant exposure to the Founder, CEO and senior leadership team. You'll shape the function as the business grows its trading capabilities and expands into European markets.

Location:

You'll be based in the London office with flexibility to work from home once a week.

About you:

• You have experience leading quantitative production, algorithmic trading technology, systematic trading or asset optimisation within a power / energy trading environment
• You have experience of taking quantitative models from research into production
• You have strong software fluency, including Python based quantitative workflows, architecture and deployment
• You have experience with production ML or model platforms, data-intensive systems and live monitoring
• You have an understanding of optimisation, automated bidding, dispatch or execution systems
• You have sound commercial judgement, with the ability to prioritise technology investment based on measurable value
• You have experience leading cross functional technical teams and managing external technology partners
• You have a hands-on, collaborative leadership style, with the confidence to challenge priorities and introduce production discipline without stifling innovation
• You have achieved a BSc from a top tier university (e.g. Russel Group, Oxbridge)
