Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading quality management in engineering.

• Drive the deployment of APQP and defect prevention tools.
• Plan and lead third-party audits, including AS9100.
• Act as the quality interface for customer matters.
• Define supplier quality objectives and drive improvement.

Skills

Proven senior quality leadership experience within precision engineering

Strong background supplying machined and/or fabricated components into the aerospace sector

In-depth knowledge of AS9100 and Quality Management Systems

Practical experience of APQP and associated quality tools

AS9100 auditor trained

Demonstrable success with continuous improvement tools like 8D, Kaizen, and Six Sigma

EMBS Engineering is working in exclusive partnership with a market‑leading precision engineering and advanced manufacturing business that is seeking a Head of Quality to lead and shape its quality strategy across a multi‑site, global operation.

Supplying complex, small to medium batch, high‑precision sub‑assemblies into the aerospace sector, this business is trusted by some of the world's most recognisable aerospace OEMs and Tier 1s. With a strong heritage, global footprint and long‑term order book, the company offers genuine stability and the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

This is a senior, business‑critical role with responsibility for the end‑to‑end quality function across UK operations and overseas sites, including Asia. International travel is expected to be minimal (approximately once every two years).

You will lead the organisation's quality vision, ensuring products, processes and services consistently meet stringent regulatory, customer and internal standards, while championing a Zero‑Defect culture and continuous improvement mindset throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, maintain and continuously improve the Business Quality Management System to meet regulatory and customer requirements
• Drive the deployment of APQP and defect prevention tools across the organisation
• Plan, prepare and lead third‑party audits including AS9100 and NADCAP
• Own internal audit and compliance monitoring programmes
• Act as the senior quality interface for all customer quality matters
• Define and embed supplier quality objectives, driving performance improvement and reduction in cost of non‑conformance

About You

• Proven senior quality leadership experience within precision engineering or advanced manufacturing
• Strong background supplying machined and/or fabricated components into the aerospace sector
• In‑depth knowledge of AS9100 and Quality Management Systems
• Working knowledge of AS3100
• Appreciation or basic understanding of NADCAP is preferable but not essential
• Practical experience of APQP and associated quality tools
• AS9100 auditor trained
• Demonstrable success delivering continuous improvement using tools such as 8D, Kaizen and Six Sigma
• Confident communicator, comfortable leading audits and engaging with customers and suppliers
• Hands‑on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic oversight and day‑to‑day involvement
• Results‑driven, proactive and confident challenging the status quo
