Overview

Astute’s Renewables team is partnered with an established anaerobic digestion business that designs, builds, owns and operates assets. We are looking to recruit a Head of Projects to lead and oversee the successful delivery of strategic projects from initiation to completion. The Head of Projects role offers a very competitive salary, car allowance, bonus, healthcare and dental care.

Responsibilities and duties

• Define project scope, goals and deliverables in alignment with business objectives.
• Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.
• Develop detailed project plans, timelines and resource allocations.
• Monitor project progress and performance, resolving issues and mitigating risks.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, sponsors and senior leadership.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement in project management methodologies and tools.
• Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders.
• Provide leadership and direction to project managers, ensuring best practices in project governance and risk management.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

• NVQ 5, HNC/HND/Degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Project Management Certificate.
• HSE Certification in Managing Safely.
• Full UK Driving licence.

Personal skills

• Proven experience in project or program management, ideally in a leadership role.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, PRINCE2, PMP).
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Strategic thinking and problem‑solving capabilities.
