Overview

Head of Procurement. Our client, a leading player in their industry, is seeking a commercially driven and strategically minded Head of Procurement to lead the transformation of their procurement function. This is a senior role for someone ready to take ownership of end-to-end procurement strategy by shaping supplier relationships, driving innovation, and delivering measurable savings across the business. This senior role involves full ownership of the procurement function, including warehouse logistics across multiple sites. The successful candidate will be confident managing supplier relationships while ensuring smooth coordination across the UK, with occasional travel to northern sites twice a month.

Hours: 8:30am – 5pm

Location: High Wycombe – fully office based, with potential for limited hybrid flexibility

Salary: £75,000 – £80,000

Job description

As Head of Procurement, you\'ll lead the company\'s strategic sourcing and supplier management activities, ensuring best value, compliance, and operational efficiency. You\'ll have full ownership of the procurement lifecycle from strategy design through to supplier performance and will be a key influencer across the organisation, partnering with senior stakeholders in Finance, Sales, and Operations.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a three-year procurement strategy aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Implement a proactive procurement culture focused on data-driven decision-making, value creation, and innovation.
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and category management to achieve significant cost efficiencies.
  • Design and track procurement performance metrics (KPIs) to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen supplier partnerships while optimising the vendor base for quality, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Director to streamline stock management, logistics, and distribution processes.
  • Introduce new systems or tools to enhance procurement transparency, reporting, and process automation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, presenting clear business cases and recommendations to the executive team.
Key skills & experience
  • Proven experience leading procurement strategy within a fast-paced or regulated industry (e.g., healthcare, manufacturing, or distribution).
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering six-figure cost savings.
  • Excellent negotiation, supplier relationship management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Data-savvy and analytical, with experience using procurement software and KPIs to track performance.
  • A confident, persuasive communicator who can influence at all levels of an organisation.
  • Degree-qualified in Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline (MCIPS/CIPS preferred).
