Head of Procurement

Cirencester, Gloucestershire | Full-time | Starting ASAP

We are hiring for a Head of Procurement to join Kubus! This role will be to establish and lead a centralised procurement function that delivers strategic, commercial and operational value to the business. This includes transforming the existing purchasing team into a high‑performing Procurement department, developing and implementing procurement strategy, improving supplier relationships and commercial outcomes, and embedding the processes, systems and governance needs to support sustainable growth and efficiency.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and implement a centralised procurement strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Lead the transition from a transactional purchasing function to a strategic procurement model.
  • Define and embed procurement policies, governance frameworks and best practices.
  • Lead supply chain risk management, including business continuity planning and cyber risk mitigation.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to the Procurement team (including any necessary upskilling of existing Purchasing team members).
  • Act as the primary stakeholder for procurement across the organisation.
Supplier & Partner Management
  • Own strategic relationships with key vendors, distributors and technology partners.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, framework agreements, pricing strategies and rebate structures.
  • Partner with Legal to implement and maintain an effective Contract Management System.
  • Build and maintain a supplier performance management programme, including KPIs and SLAs.
  • Drive vendor consolidation opportunities while protecting supply flexibility.
  • Ensure compliance with partner accreditation, certification and programme requirements.
  • Drive ESG and sustainability initiatives across the supply base, ensuring alignment with company values and regulatory requirements.
Commercial & Financial Management
  • Deliver measurable cost savings, margin improvements and working capital optimisation.
  • Oversee purchase forecasting, demand planning and inventory cost control where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Sales to support accurate costing, pricing and margin assurance.
  • Ensure strong control of spend, approvals, and risk mitigation.
Process, Systems & Data
  • Introduce efficient procurement workflows, automation and approval frameworks.
  • Establish robust data and reporting for spend analytics, supplier performance and procurement KPIs.
  • Promote continuous improvement and operational excellence.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience in a senior procurement role within a technology VAR, MSP, distributor, hardware/software reseller, or similar environment.
  • Strong understand of IT vendor ecosystems (OEMs, distributors, licensing providers, cloud vendors).
  • Demonstrable experience transforming or scaling procurement functions.
  • Excellent negotiation, contract management and supplier relationship skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of margin drivers in a VAR model.
  • Experience leading, developing or restructuring teams.
  • Proficiency with procurement/ERP systems (NetSuite is desirable) and procurement analytics.
  • CIPS qualification or equivalent is desirable.
  • Knowledge of working with international supply chains or global vendor programmes is desirable.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands‑on, pragmatic approach.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to challenge the status quo, drive change and embed new processes.
  • Commercially astute, data‑driven and operationally disciplined.
  • Highly collaborative with a customer‑first mindset.
  • Comfortable in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
