Job Title Head of Planning Network Improvement

Location: Wrexham

Salary: from £69,200 up to 20% bonus, family health cover, and car allowance.

Overview

Responsible for leading and developing a multi-disciplined team to optimise performance and design of the District distribution network ensuring there is a District wide delivery plan that prioritises and balances workload and workforce to achieve District goals. Responsible for ensuring compliance with multiple standards of commercial network design / security / stewardship engineering and technical with strict adherence to the appropriate regulatory licence obligations and safety legislation for the electricity distribution network.

What you’ll be doing

Design and approve schemes that leverage the full range of regulatory mechanisms to enhance network performance. Promote the integration of innovative solutions to meet system performance targets, maintain system integrity and deliver outputs efficiently and effectively.

Embed asset stewardship values into network design by applying sound engineering principles coordinated planning and fostering local ownership. This approach improves the safety integrity and longevity of the electrical network while supporting sustainable infrastructure development.

Collaborate with central teams across and beyond the Licence area to develop well-structured programmes of work. Ensure solutions are efficient and ready for seamless handover to Delivery aligning with business plan objectives and regulatory requirements.

Lead the development of a robust District delivery plan that balances local goals with regulatory outputs workforce planning outage management and incentive mechanisms. Maintain strong stakeholder and customer relationships uphold safety standards and ensure accurate reporting in compliance with Iberdrola and SPEN processes.

What you’ll bring
  • Engineering / professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience of distribution network design and programme planning.
  • Proven experience of managing motivating coaching and developing a team.
  • Expert planning and programme management skills and ability to match manpower requirements to future business needs.
  • Track record of effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound judgement to determine options and solutions.
  • Capability to manage and influence challenging discussions / situations at all levels.
  • Understanding of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SP is operating.
  • Proven regulatory and commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer service operational delivery and financial performance.
