There is a lot going on in Redbridge right now. Ambitious regeneration plans will transform how the borough looks and feels and help to create greater economic opportunities for our residents. And we are reshaping our organisation to be better equipped to have the greatest impact for our community. Momentum is building and there is a renewed sense of purpose within the Council that has the potential to achieve great things. This is your chance to be part of a new management team with a mandate for change and a shared sense of purpose.
This is a new role in the organisation with a strategic leadership perspective across two key professional disciplines. It offers the ideal opportunity for an accomplished individual from either background to take on a wider portfolio and extend their management experience.
We’re looking for someone who can build on what we already do well, while bringing an outward focus to how we operate – being attentive to the priorities of stakeholders that include our elected members, local developers and the borough’s residents, ensuring a customer focus defines our approach.
You should also have the organisational vision to see how these services can influence and be complementary to other aspects of the Council’s work. The ability to foster positive working relationships with others will be an important attribute, enabling you to highlight and promote good practice within the service and celebrate success to build your team’s profile and reputation.
Accomplished people and resource management skills will be vital to establishing more consistent and accountable working practices, drawing on data and reporting to inform performance management. And you’ll support the professional development of your team, creating opportunity for progression and building capacity and expertise from within.
We expect that you will already have experience of leading Planning Enforcement or Building Control functions, and that you hold a relevant professional qualification. You should have an expert and up-to-date knowledge of English planning system legislation and policies, and an informed appreciation of the attention and scrutiny that comes with managing these high-profile services.
