About the Role

A thriving and ambitious secondary school in the Enfield area is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Department for Physical Education. Starting September 2025, this role offers leadership responsibility within a well-resourced department, supporting an academy with a strong vision for active and inclusive promotion of sport and health across the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership of the PE department, including curriculum planning, staffing, and resource management
  • Teach PE across KS3–KS4 (and KS5 if required) with high standards of coaching and delivery
  • Raise departmental outcomes and participation, including extracurricular and competitive sport opportunities
  • Mentor and develop staff, support performance management and professional development
  • Promote student wellbeing, engagement and achievement in line with the school’s ethos
About You
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / equivalent and significant experience teaching PE in UK secondary schools
  • Proven leadership experience (HOD or Senior Practitioner level) within PE
  • Strong curriculum knowledge and experience raising outcomes in KS3–KS4 (and ideally KS5)
