About the Role
The Head of Operational Resilience is a senior leader on the Group Security Leadership Team reporting to the Chief Security Officer. Responsible for developing and refining the company’s operational resilience strategy this role ensures the business can anticipate, withstand and recover from disruptions.
The position involves collaborating across all business areas to embed resilience into risk management, strategic planning and daily operations leveraging technology to improve crisis response and decision‑making.
Key duties include overseeing the effectiveness of resilience measures, partnering with teams to assess risks and providing regular reports to executive leadership and the Board.
This role requires strategic vision, operational expertise and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a complex environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the Haleon Business Resilience strategy and oversee the implementation of the Operational Resilience Framework across Readiness, Response, Recovery and Regeneration phases.
- Oversee the establishment and management of the enterprise‑wide Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) within the framework.
- Develop and integrate KPIs to assess continuity preparedness, recovery capabilities, plan effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.
- Design and execute a tiered crisis response structure across global operations with clear escalation procedures and coordinated decision‑making.
- Identify, map and prioritize Critical Business Services (CBS); conduct impact assessments; establish, monitor and document recovery time objectives and dependencies.
- Coordinate the Operational Resilience Executive Steering Committee to provide strategic oversight, ensure alignment with priorities, guide initiatives and monitor effectiveness.
- Lead the senior Operational Resilience Working Group to drive cross‑functional collaboration, set priorities and ensure resilience objectives are achieved.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training materials on Operational Resilience and facilitate crisis management exercises for senior stakeholders.
- Support organization‑wide resilience by promoting knowledge sharing and mentoring business units in crisis management competencies.
- Collaborate with technology teams on disaster recovery planning, data backup strategies and cyber resilience initiatives.
- Work with QSC and procurement to safeguard supply chain continuity and develop dual sourcing strategies.
- Uphold compliance standards, maintain accurate documentation and prepare regular reports for leadership and governance committees.
- Provide assurance regarding BCMS compliance and crisis preparedness through ongoing review, monitoring and reporting.
- Conduct regular audits, risk assessments and validation exercises to identify improvement areas and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Emergency Management or a related field.
- Preferred certifications: CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional), MBCI (Member of the Business Continuity Institute), ISO 22301 Lead Implementer, Crisis Management or Emergency Planning credentials.
