Graphcore in Bristol, UK, is seeking a Director of Software Architecture to lead the architectural vision of the software stack for the Graphcore ML accelerator. You will lead an architecture team that defines software architecture spanning firmware to ML frameworks.

As a thought leader, you will engage with stakeholders, external partners and customers to ensure alignment, communicate decisions clearly, and mentor the architecture team while advancing Graphcore's long-term technical strategy.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a technical organisation.
• Experience with silicon and hardware teams.
• Expertise in ML accelerator software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset with ability to influence.
• Pragmatic decision-making with awareness of trade-offs.
• Experience with Firmware, Drivers, ML frameworks, HPC, tooling, C/C++, CPU architectures.

Responsibilities

• Communicate the long-term technical vision & strategy for the software architecture.
• Define processes to define, agree and maintain software architecture.
• Advocate and be a thought leader for the long-term technical vision.
• Advocate for user experience to ensure easy-to-use software architecture.
• Manage architectural risks at technical and project levels.
• Work with engineering, product, leadership and partners to align goals with vision.
• Inspire, grow, mentor and develop the software architecture team.
• Explain trade-offs for architectural decisions with company-wide impact.
• Stay informed about trends in the ML/software ecosystem.
