A school filled with energy, joy and passion

A school filled with energy, joy and passion

A warm and welcoming place to work, in a fantastic and beautiful rural setting – “ I’m struggling to think of anyone who wouldn’t love this school ”

This is an exceptional opportunity for a new Head of Maths to join a flourishing Preparatory School, set in 33 acres of Surrey Hills countryside.

As the Head of Maths you’ll be responsible for the leading and managing the department, ensuring coherent and well-balanced programmes and procedures are offered throughout the School for all abilities, and in all key stages from KS1 to KS3, fostering a culture of mathematical excellence among high-performing and motivated staff.

We are looking for a visionary leader to inspire a love for problem-solving and numerical fluency, ensuring every child, from those needing support to our academic scholars, reaches their full potential. You will have a proven track record of outstanding maths teaching at KS2 and KS3, preparing children for Common Entrance and CASE examinations and providing bespoke mentorship for high-attaining pupils, stretching them beyond the standard ISEB syllabus. You will lead the use of standardised data to set ambitious targets and track value-added progress.

With warmth and kindness, you’ll be flexible and will significantly contribute to Barrow Hills’ ongoing success, working with colleagues across the School in a friendly and supportive environment.

Barrow Hills School is a co‑ed 2‑13 years Preparatory School, offering academic success within a balanced and generous education. We have a strong ethos built on our values of compassion, curiosity and connection, and we are proud to be widely recognised as a welcoming community with a warm, family atmosphere.

In return, we offer a rewarding environment, as well as a number of notable benefits such as substantially reduced school fees at King Edward’s and Barrow Hills, free school lunches, free on-site parking, use of our schools’ gym and pool facilities & competitive rates of pay.

Barrow Hills School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. All successful applicants are required to complete an Enhanced disclosure through the DBS. Please refer to our websites or ask HR for our child protection and rehabilitation of offenders’ policy.
