Lead a Core Academic Faculty in Central London Start January 2026

We are seeking an inspirational highly experienced Head of Mathematics to lead the thriving faculty at a prestigious secondary school / academy in the City of Westminster.

This is a Full-Time Permanent Position starting in January 2026 (or sooner).

  • Lead and teach Maths across Key Stages 3 4 and 5 (GCSE / A-Level / Further Maths)
The Opportunity

The successful applicant will be an exceptional Mathematics specialist with the proven ability to lead an entire subject department manage staff and drive strategic vision. This is a crucial senior middle leadership post responsible for ensuring outstanding attainment and progress across all key stages with many students progressing to competitive university courses in STEM fields.

The post will be compensated with a senior Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR 1b) or potentially an L-Scale point reflecting the significant responsibility for the entire mathematics curriculum departmental budget performance management and day-to-day operations. You will be expected to innovate the curriculum and maintain the departments high standards.

We Are Looking For :
  • A qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
  • A proven track record of excellent Mathematics teaching with essential experience teaching the subject to Key Stage 5 (including A-Level and/or Further Maths).
  • Significant leadership experience (e.g. Second in Department Key Stage Coordinator or existing Head of Department).
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to inspire high academic achievement and competitive university applications.
  • The strategic vision to develop and enrich the curriculum including extracurricular enrichment (e.g. Maths challenges).
Salary and Benefits
  • Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale (MPS / UPS) for Inner London Teachers (currently 40317 - 62496 for 2025 / 2026).
  • Senior TLR Payment: A TLR 1b is typical for this role ranging from 12943 to 17216 (for 2025 / 2026). Alternatively the role may be placed on the Leadership Pay Spine (L-Scale) depending on the schools structure.
