Job summary

Avara Foods Limited, a leading UK food producer, is seeking a Head of Logistics to lead the group logistics strategy and end-to-end operations across a national network. The role requires defining the operating model, driving transformation, and building high-performing teams across multiple sites with regular travel.

The postholder will own budgets, partner management, fleet strategy, compliance and risk controls while delivering safe, resilient and efficient logistics services.

Qualifications

• Proven senior leadership experience within complex multi-site logistics.
• Experience in manufacturing or FMCG, fast-paced operational environment.
• Experience across network planning, warehousing, transport and 3PL.
• Track record of delivering large-scale logistics transformation.
• Strong commercial acumen with ownership of significant operational budgets.
• Knowledge of transport compliance, fleet management and Operator Licence requirements.
• Proven ability to lead through both direct and matrix management structures.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term logistics strategy and operating model.
• Establish central network and capacity planning to support growth and resilience.
• Lead transformation programmes, standardisation and systems implementation.
• Set governance and KPIs across transport, warehousing, distribution and movements.
• Ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective service delivery across the network.
• Lead budget, forecasts and performance reporting; manage external partners.
