Head of IT and Digital Learning

My client, an educational institute based in Marylebone, are looking for a Head of IT and Digital Learning.

Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement digital strategy aligned with educational goals.
  • Advise senior leadership on emerging technologies in teaching and learning.
  • Lead digital transformation projects and technology integration.
  • Promote innovation while ensuring accessibility, inclusivity, and safeguarding.
  • Oversee management of servers, networks, Wi‑Fi, classroom tech, AV, and security systems.
  • Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are tested.
  • Support staff in enhancing digital literacy and blended learning.
  • Lead training, mentoring, and professional development on digital tools.
Leadership and Management
  • Lead and develop the IT support team, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Manage IT and digital learning budgets efficiently, ensuring value and sustainability.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Proven experience leading IT operations or digital learning in educational/complex settings.
  • Strong technical knowledge: networks, servers, cloud, cybersecurity, educational tech.
  • Experience implementing/supporting whole‑school digital learning strategy.
  • Excellent leadership and communication; can explain technical concepts to non‑specialists.
  • Project and budget management experience.
Desirable
  • Experience in independent schools.
  • Experience managing Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with MIS (iSAMS, Arbor) and VLEs (Firefly, Google Classroom).
  • Professional IT qualifications (CompTIA, MCSE, ITIL, PRINCE2).
  • Teaching qualification or experience supporting teaching staff.
  • Knowledge of e‑safety, digital citizenship, and safeguarding online.
