Job description

Head of Internal Operations - Secondment

Location: National (Travel required across UK operational sites)

Reporting directly to the Managing Director – Air, Fire & Asbestos, you will lead the creation of a centralised, high-performing operational support structure.

You will oversee contract setup, resource planning, customer service, and revenue assurance across Air maintenance, Fire remediation, and Asbestos consultancy. By building seamless interfaces with Finance, HR, Fleet, and Business Development, you will ensure our field teams are fully enabled to deliver compliant, high-margin, and customer-focused services nationwide.

What You’ll Be Doing
Divisional Leadership & Mobilisation
  • Function Building: Establish the Central Operations structure across Air, Fire, and Asbestos, unifying legacy support activities into consistent divisional processes.
  • Contract Mobilisation: Translate won tenders into accurately built contracts—ensuring complete pricing, scope, asset registers, and smooth sales-to-operations handovers.
Planning, Scheduling & Revenue Assurance
  • Workload & Resource Planning: Lead planning across maintenance, reactive tasks, surveys, and projects; align technician competence, access, and lab/equipment requirements.
  • Invoicing & Revenue Control: Own the operational controls connecting completed work to prompt, accurate invoicing—minimizing unbilled work and revenue leakage.
Customer Service & Systems Transformation
  • Operational Account Support: Implement proactive customer service frameworks, contract review cadences, and regular delivery reporting in partnership with Business Development.
  • Systems & Acquisition Integration: Define systems and data requirements, build clear operational reporting dashboards, and seamlessly integrate newly acquired businesses into our central model.
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Attributes
  • Central Operations Leadership: Proven track record leading central operations, scheduling/planning hubs, or multi-site support functions within a service-led B2B environment.
  • Operational Transformation: Experience building, standardizing, or integrating operational support functions across multiple entities, specialist service lines, or corporate acquisitions.
  • Commercial & Process Mastery: Deep understanding of contract mobilization, resource scheduling, WIP management, invoicing controls, and revenue assurance.
  • Systems & Data Fluency: Strong command of CRM/ERP systems, operational reporting, and process automation to drive efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Relevant qualification in operations, business management, or process improvement (Desirable—proven operational track record is primary).
  • Full UK Driving Licence with total willingness for national travel across HSL offices and operational sites (Essential).
