A local government authority in Bolton seeks a leader for their information governance team. The successful candidate will manage projects, ensure compliance with data protection laws, and act as the council's Data Protection Officer. The successful candidate will lead and manage our information governance team. You will initiate and implement projects or work programmes to meet specific, agreed objectives of the council. Alongside leading and representing the Council on strategic information governance areas of work, the role also involves acting as the Data Protection Officer for Bolton and Salford Cares.
This post is a designated customer‑facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English as per the person specification.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of both legislative requirements and best practice standards in relation to information assurance, information rights, records management, and data standards. You will be able to apply that knowledge to deliver information assurance and governance in a complex organisation with a wide ranging and varied data landscape. Alongside experience of generating performance reporting, you will have experience of leading, developing and motivating a team with strong communication and teamwork skills.
