We're looking for a Head of Individual Giving to join our ambitious Public Fundraising team.

You will be a leader who can advocate effectively for our core purpose, reminding people internally and externally that we're a charity. You'll appreciate the ambition and drive to deliver growth through our Individual Giving products, help create a new Community Fundraising programme and build on the success of our Mid-Level Giving programme.

You will work effectively with membership and marketing colleagues as well as the wider fundraising team to grow support and integrate the three core areas of the Individual Giving programme. Alongside this, you’ll bring a fresh perspective to our new strategy, to help create the right environment for growth and drive an ambitious and curious culture across the team.

You’ll be someone who can effectively lead and inspire a passionate team. You’ll love working collaboratively, sharing, networking across the organisation as well as externally and facing into challenges to get the right outcomes.

Please be aware that this role involves travel and overnight stays when required.

You’ll be leading a newly formed team, building on their success whilst highlighting opportunities to grow and develop the programmes to ensure we reach our exciting fundraising goals.

As this is a national role, there is flexibility on your contractual place of work. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40-60% of your working week.

What you’ll be doing

This role presents an exceptional opportunity for a fundraising leader to drive income growth and supporter engagement across our individual giving programmes, including regular giving, in-memory, community fundraising and mid-level giving. You’ll be helping to shape the future of public fundraising at the Trust. You’ll play a key role in enhancing existing initiatives such as Plant a Tree, Patrons and Adopt a Plot while leveraging your expertise and collaborative spirit to foster innovation alongside colleagues in Membership, Marketing & Communications, and broaden the Trust’s reach to new demographics.

As the strategic lead for Individual Giving your focus will be on enhancing supporter experiences and fundraising efforts across the organisation, fostering strong internal partnerships. Your responsibilities will include supporting the team in executing current plans, as well as identifying and developing growth opportunities in Regular Giving, Mid-level Giving and a major fundraising campaign.

Who we're looking for

  • Experience of delivering 6 figure+ individual giving campaigns across multiple channels, including digital, direct mail and mid-level giving
  • Demonstrated success in growing income through individual giving income streams through supporter retention and insight-led strategies
  • Experience of building strong working relationships with external agencies and internal partners to deliver integrated campaigns and culture change
  • Demonstratable experience of managing 7-figure income and expenditure budgets, including reforecasts, budget monitoring and securing a strong ROI
  • Experience in developing and implementing lifetime value journeys integrated with wider charity coms including knowledge of donor motivations and segmentation

Additional criteria for all other applicants:

  • Knowledge of GDPR, fundraising compliance and ethical standards
  • Experience of using CRM and Data systems to support data-driven decision making
  • Experience in managing and developing high performing teams, modelling a high performance culture with the ability to monitor and interpret data and performance to drive results and optimise campaigns
