Job summary

Murphy is seeking an Operations Director to lead the Energy Team on National Grid projects, including the ETP Framework in Kentish Town and South West Wales. The role involves directing safety, quality and financial outcomes across multiple projects, and shaping strategy and resource planning.

You will build and lead the operations team, manage client and stakeholder relationships, and ensure delivery against programme and cost targets with emphasis on risk and governance.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large-scale energy/transmission projects.
• Strong understanding of governance, safety, and quality standards.
• Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams across complex programmes.
• Excellent stakeholder management with clients and subcontractors.
• Commercial awareness and cost-control discipline.
• Experience of delivering to programme and cost targets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the scope of works, ensuring safe delivery on time and to quality, with financial accountability.
• Set project standards and ensure consistency across the portfolio.
• Build and develop the operations and project management teams.
• Line manage senior project directors and chair meetings with clear action closure.
• Oversee fit-to-start processes and handover from bid to delivery teams.
• Develop client relationships and provide strategic updates and plans.
• Develop and maintain detailed cost and resource forecasts.
