Job summary

Cavendish (Recruitment) Professionals Ltd is seeking an experienced Head of HSEQ for a leading building services contractor in London and the South. You will drive the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality function across multiple live projects and develop robust policies and procedures.

You will conduct audits, improve standards and foster a proactive safety culture while reporting to senior leadership and engaging with clients, regulators and contractors.

Qualifications

• Senior HSEQ Manager or Head of HSEQ in construction.
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience with Groundworks/RC/Demolition/Drilling.
• Experience managing multiple live construction projects.
• Chartered IOSH membership or working toward.

Responsibilities

• Lead HSEQ strategy across projects.
• Develop and improve HSEQ policies and procedures.
• Carry out regular site inspections and audits across London and the South.
• Ensure compliance with UK health & safety legislation and industry standards.
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Produce reports, KPIs and performance data for senior management.
• Manage external audits and accreditation processes including ISO standards.
• Deliver training, toolbox talks and support site teams.
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the business.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and regulatory bodies on all HSEQ matters.

Job description

• Location: North London (with travel across London & the South)
• Job Type: Full-Time

The Company

Our client is an established building services contractor delivering high-quality projects across London and the South. They primarily specialise within Precision Drilling, Groundworks and Structural Solutions.

With a growing portfolio of work and multiple live projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced Head of HSEQ to lead and develop their Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality function.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business where you will play a key role in shaping company standards, ensuring compliance and driving a positive safety culture across the organisation.

The Role

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will be responsible for overseeing all HSEQ activities across approximately five live projects, ensuring best practice is maintained throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the company's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality strategy.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve HSEQ policies and procedures.
• Carry out regular site inspections and audits across London and the South.
• Ensure compliance with UK health & safety legislation and industry standards.
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

• Manage external audits and accreditation processes including ISO standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior HSEQ Manager or Head of HSEQ within the construction or building services sector.
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
• ISO 9001/14001/45001 Knowledge
• Experience within Groundworks/RC/Demolition/Diamond Drilling/Steel Erection/Structural Alterations
• Chartered IOSH membership or working towards chartership is advantageous.
• Experience managing multiple live construction projects.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
