Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced health and safety professional to join a high-profile infrastructure project as the Head of Health and Safety. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with all conventional health and safety legislation across a large and complex construction environment.

The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of safety strategies, standards and processes throughout the project lifecycle, from design through to commissioning, ensuring alignment with relevant legal frameworks including CDM Regulations and the Health and Safety at Work Act. With oversight of safety performance across the project and its supply chain, the role involves working closely with internal teams, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities include conducting safety audits, supporting regulatory compliance, chairing SHE committees, producing high-level reports for senior leadership, and representing the organisation in industry forums.

Candidates with a degree in a science or engineering discipline, NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent), and membership of a recognised professional HSE organisation are highly advantageous.

Experience in a major construction or infrastructure setting is essential, along with excellent communication skills, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of driving safety performance at scale.
