Job summary

Walhampton School is seeking an enthusiastic Head of Modern Foreign Languages to lead and develop the teaching of French across Pre-Prep through to Year 8. You will lead a department, inspire a love of languages and cultures, and drive a progressive French curriculum.

Qualifications

Degree in French or closely related subject with excellent subject knowledge.
Proven experience teaching French to pupils with a range of abilities.
Ability to lead, motivate and develop colleagues with a clear vision for language learning.
Strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment and pupil progress.
Commitment to safeguarding and contributing to the wider life of a prep school.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the teaching of French across Pre-Prep to Year 8, ensuring an ambitious curriculum.
Deliver engaging French lessons that support all abilities and maximise potential.
Lead, motivate and support departmental colleagues to promote excellent teaching practices.
Monitor pupil progress and use assessment to inform teaching and development.
Prepare pupils for senior school entrance and scholarship assessments.
Oversee EAL provision across the school to ensure appropriate support.
Bring language learning to life through cultural activities and educational visits.
