Location & Salary

Location: Waterfront House, Beeston or TJB, Farringdon. Permanent. Salary: £76,459 – £80,483 (Nottingham) or £85,067 – £89,544 (London).

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Fire Safety. Above all, your remit will be to keep our customers safe. You will be responsible for MTVH’s fire safety, and manage our internal FRA and remedial process. This is a critical role where you will ensure MTVH is compliant with all relevant legislation relating to these services, and liaise closely with our Building Safety directorate where support is required for HRBs. You are expected to proactively keep MTVH up to date on best practice for fire safety, in particular around Fire Risk Assessments and associated remedial works and the changes in legislation in the fire sector and ensure our fire safety service is fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and challenge the contractors' performance.
  • Ensure MTVH are fully compliant with all relevant statutory, regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Ensure that all responsive repairs to fire equipment are carried out promptly to a high standard.
  • Establish and deliver a programme of replacement works for capital renewals.
  • Ensure staff performance is formally reviewed in accordance with MTVH policy and that regular one-to-ones are held with your staff.
  • Be the responsible person for effective management of risk to the health and safety of customers in the homes we own relating to your remit.
  • Ensure budgets are managed, and works are completed to the correct quality.
  • Have oversight and co‑ordinate with technical professionals to make commercial decisions about out‑of‑scope works, based upon contractor / consultant reports.
  • Visit sites as required to identify and rectify issues both proactively and in emergency.
  • Lead on the procurement and commercial evaluation of contracts.
  • Develop and deliver MTVH’s fire safety strategy in relation to Fire Safety including our internal FRA programme delivered through our Assessors.
  • Review terms and conditions of leases and tenancy agreements, to ensure terms and conditions are uniformed to reflect management repair liability and charging processes.
  • Ensure 3rd‑party stakeholders who are responsible for providing MTVH with FRAs, or responsible for FRA remedial works are compliant.
