Are you a visionary fire safety leader ready to shape the future of safety at one of the world’s leading universities?

Imperial College London is seeking an accomplished and strategic Head of Fire Safety to lead the development and implementation of fire safety strategies across our multi-campus estate. This is a high-impact leadership role, responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors through robust fire safety operations, compliance, and culture.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a university-wide fire safety strategy and risk management framework.
  • Provide expert guidance to senior leadership on fire safety planning and compliance.
  • Oversee fire risk assessments, incident investigations, and emergency response protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and other legislation.
  • Lead and mentor a team of fire safety professionals, fostering excellence and collaboration.
  • Represent Imperial in external regulatory and emergency service engagements.
Qualifications
  • Level 4 Diploma (or equivalent) in fire safety and registration with a recognised Fire Risk Assessor Register.
  • Extensive experience in fire safety leadership within complex, multi-site organisations.
  • Deep knowledge of fire safety legislation, fire engineering, and risk management.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence, innovate, and drive continuous improvement.
