Job summary

Contract: Interim | – 6 Months

Location: Hybrid – London office (minimum 2 days per week)

About the Role

Panoramic Associates are working with a London Borough Council to recruit an experienced Interim Head of Finance to provide leadership and stability during a critical transition period. This is a high-profile role, reporting into Senior Finance Management, with responsibility for guiding a newly restructured team and delivering key statutory processes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the Q3 Budget Monitoring process.

Finalise Budget Papers for Council and Leadership Team in February.

Oversee and support Year-End Closure.

Manage and mentor a small finance team.

Provide clear, imperative financial messaging tailored for senior leadership and political members.

Challenge assumptions and ensure robust financial governance across directorates.

What We’re Looking For

Local Government finance expertise – significant, recent experience is essential.

Proven track record of leading finance teams (minimum 2-3 staff).

Strong stakeholder management – confident in engaging senior leadership and political members.

Skilled at translating complex finance into clear, accessible messaging for non-finance audiences.

A hands‑on, proactive, and resilient – able to challenge directors and senior managers effectively.
