A public sector consultancy is seeking an experienced Interim Head of Finance to support a London Borough Council during a critical transition. Panoramic Associates are working with a London Borough Council to recruit an experienced Interim Head of Finance to provide leadership and stability during a critical transition period. This is a high-profile role, reporting into Senior Finance Management, with responsibility for guiding a newly restructured team and delivering key statutory processes.
Lead the Q3 Budget Monitoring process.
Finalise Budget Papers for Council and Leadership Team in February.
Oversee and support Year-End Closure.
Manage and mentor a small finance team.
Provide clear, imperative financial messaging tailored for senior leadership and political members.
Challenge assumptions and ensure robust financial governance across directorates.
Local Government finance expertise – significant, recent experience is essential.
Proven track record of leading finance teams (minimum 2-3 staff).
Strong stakeholder management – confident in engaging senior leadership and political members.
Skilled at translating complex finance into clear, accessible messaging for non-finance audiences.
A hands‑on, proactive, and resilient – able to challenge directors and senior managers effectively.
