Job summary

A family-owned business in rural North Dorset is looking for a Head of Finance to oversee accounting functions, including management accounts, VAT returns, and payroll. The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant or has substantial experience in accounting within SMEs. Knowledge in construction and prior ERP implementation experience are beneficial. This role involves strategic planning and liaising with various external stakeholders, providing a crucial leadership opportunity in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant or experienced QBE with wide-ranging accounting experience in SMEs.
  • Knowledge of the construction sector and project costing are advantageous.
  • Previous experience of ERP implementation is particularly useful.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts.
  • Manage year-end statutory accounts.
  • Oversee VAT returns.
  • Conduct forecasting and budgeting.
  • Manage payroll responsibilities.
  • Liaise with banks and external parties.
  • Participate in strategic planning.
  • Assist in system transfer from Sage to ERP.

Qualifications

Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA) or a well experienced QBE with wide ranging accounting experience in SMEs. Knowledge of the construction sector and project costing an advantage but not essential. Previous experience of ERP implementation would be particularly useful.
