Job summary

A family business in rural North Dorset is seeking a Head of Finance to oversee a small finance team and manage monthly management accounts, budgeting, and more. The successful candidate will be a Qualified Accountant or a QBE with accounting experience in SMEs. This is a strategic role, involving liaison with external bodies and ERP system implementation. The position offers a chance to play a key role in the company’s financial management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of ACA, ACCA, ACMA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in managing accounts in SMEs.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts.
  • Manage year end statutory accounts.
  • Handle VAT returns.
  • Conduct forecasting and budgeting.
  • Oversee payroll functions.
  • Liaise with banks and external bodies.
  • Participate in strategic planning.
  • Assist in system transfer from Sage to ERP.

Job description

A Head of Finance is being recruited exclusively for a small, established family business based in rural North Dorset.

This is a new position reporting to the Directors, overseeing a small finance team and have responsibility for :

Responsibilities
  • Monthly management accounts
  • Year end statutory accounts
  • VAT returns
  • Forecasting
  • Budgeting
  • Payroll
  • Liaising with bank, accountants and other external bodies
  • Involvement with strategic planning
  • Future system transfer from Sage to an ERP system
Qualifications

You will need to be a Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / ACMA) or a well experienced QBE with wide ranging accounting experience in SMEs. Knowledge of the construction sector and project costing an advantage but not essential. Previous of experience of ERP implementation would be particularly useful.
