Job summary

Ipsum is seeking a commercially minded Head of Finance - Acquisitions to sit at the centre of our acquisition and growth agenda in the UK. You will support the CFO and Strategy Director, drive diligence through to post-acquisition integration, and strengthen finance operations across the Group.

You will lead financial due diligence, assist deal origination, and partner with internal teams on value creation and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with proven M&A, corporate finance experience.
• Strong track record in financial due diligence and integrations.
• Analytical mindset with ability to interpret complex data for commercial decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial due diligence across acquisitions, disposals and reinvestments.
• Support deal origination and assess potential acquisition opportunities.

About The Role…

This is a high-impact role at the centre of Ipsum's acquisition and growth agenda. Supporting the CFO and Corporate Development & Strategy Director, you will drive critical elements of the M&A process, from evaluating opportunities and managing due diligence through to post-acquisition integration. Alongside transaction activity, you will play a broader role in strengthening finance operations, improving processes, and supporting strategic initiatives across the Group.

As a Head of Finance - Acquisitions you will…

• Lead and coordinate financial due diligence across acquisitions, disposals, and re-investment opportunities, acting as a trusted finance partner throughout the deal lifecycle.
• Support deal origination activities, helping to identify, assess, and evaluate potential acquisition opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with vendors, advisors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring transactions progress smoothly and efficiently.
• Project manage M&A data rooms and oversee key non-finance due diligence workstreams to deliver successful transaction outcomes.
• Support the negotiation and agreement of commercial and legal terms, providing financial insight and challenge where required.
• Drive pre- and post-acquisition integration activities, working closely with acquired businesses and internal teams to ensure a seamless transition into the Group.
• Align accounting policies, resolve finance-related issues identified during due diligence, and support the preparation of fair value assessments and acquisition accounting.
• Monitor and assess post-acquisition performance, comparing outcomes against investment cases and identifying opportunities to enhance value creation.
• Partner with Finance and Operations teams on strategic projects, process improvements, and initiatives that support the wider business.

About You…

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS or equivalent) with proven experience in M&A, corporate finance, or a similar acquisition-focused role.
• Strong track record of leading financial due diligence and supporting successful acquisitions and business integrations.
• Expert in financial analysis, modelling, and interpreting complex data to support commercial decision-making.
• Sound understanding of financial controls, governance, and acquisition accounting within a growing organisation.
• Confident working with finance systems and highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and wider business technology tools.
• Excellent communicator, able to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
• Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with a structured approach to problem-solving and delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Passionate about driving change and continuous improvement, with the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Organised, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
• Able to travel throughout the UK on a regular basis.
