Job description

SF Recruitment is currently working with a fantastic public sector organisation based in Wolverhampton to recruit a Head of Finance. The HOF will lead the effective and efficient operation of the organisation's finance function ensuring the provision of high performing, customer focused financial services and support.

The post holder works closely with the SLT and wider colleagues to develop, drive, implement and manage the finance strategy that will meet the business objectives now and into the future.

Key tasks
  • Lead and manage the finance function, ensuring delivery of appropriate finance services, support and information to all users internally, across all areas of finance.
  • Optimise the use of resources in delivering and supporting the finance services provided and on-going working with the Fund's SLT and operational leads to identify and agree budget and resource priorities.
  • The production of the annual Statement of Accounts including scheduling and liaison with the external auditor to ensure completion within statutory deadlines.
  • Responsible for the production of the annual corporate budgets (staffing, contract expenditure, project costs etc), monitoring progress against monthly forecasts and explaining variances, identifying and leading on taking corrective action where needed.
  • The management of cashflow in line with the appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Ensure financial oversight and of all projects and change initiatives to ensure all projects have clear budgets that are managed and reported on appropriately.
  • Ensure the operation and continuous improvement of a robust control environment (including business continuity and disaster recovery plans) that are routinely tested and reviewed.
  • Responsible for overseeing all finance policies, including (but not limited to) asset valuation, treasury management, debt management and adherence to the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
