Head of Field Services

Location: Southeast Wales (Cardiff, Newport, Bridgend area)

About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing renewable energy engineering business providing technical and operational services for large-scale solar projects across the UK. They're a dynamic, sustainability-focused team delivering high-quality solar testing, inspection, and optimisation solutions.

The Role

We're looking for a motivated Head of Field Services to lead and grow a field operations team responsible for delivering solar testing and inspection services. This management role covers the full project cycle - from planning and resourcing to client delivery, reporting, and invoicing.

The position is mainly home-based, with occasional travel to sites across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Field Services team to deliver high-quality solar inspection and testing projects.
• Oversee project scheduling, resource planning, and safety compliance.
• Manage client communications and ensure service excellence.
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure operational readiness.
• Support business growth through technical input and proposal support.
• Mentor and develop team members.

Requirements

• Experience leading field-based technical or electrical teams (solar experience an advantage).
• Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Confident managing projects from start to finish.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
• Health & safety focused and hands-on approach.
• Comfortable with occasional night or outdoor work.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Word).

Desirable

• Electrical qualifications (C&G Inspection & Testing, 18th Edition, or APHV).
• SMSTS or IOSH certification, CSCS card.
• Experience with solar PV testing, thermography, or drones.
