A great opportunity for an experienced property professional to lead estate management, valuation and strategic asset planning within a diverse public sector portfolio, using strong leadership and organisational skills to deliver high-quality services.

If you’ve also worked in the following roles, we’d also like to hear from you: Estates Surveyor, Strategic Asset Manager, Property Services Manager, Senior Valuation Surveyor, Asset Strategy Manager.

Salary: £73,452 to £80,878 per annum + Benefits

Location: Hybrid role – working part from the office in Wokingham and part from home

Job type: Full‑Time, Permanent

Working hours: 37 hours per week

Job Overview

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Head of Estates / Estates Manager to drive strategic property management and support effective Corporate Landlord functions across a varied estate.

As Head of Estates / Estates Manager you will oversee the development and delivery of the organisation’s Asset Management Plan, ensuring value for money, sustainability and compliance across operational and commercial assets.

As the Head of Estates / Estates Manager you will provide expert estates management, professional valuation insight and leadership to a skilled team, supporting service improvement and commercial portfolio performance.

Duties
  • Providing Strategic Estates Advice: Acting as the organisation’s principal advisor for estate management
  • Delivering Asset Management Planning: Leading production, implementation and monitoring of the Asset Management Plan
  • Managing Corporate Landlord Functions: Ensuring efficient, compliant and value‑driven use of the property portfolio
  • Overseeing Budgets: Managing commercial and operational property budgets, including income and capital investment
  • Leading Asset Reviews: Driving the Asset Review process to identify improvement and optimisation opportunities
  • Supporting Acquisitions and Disposals: Overseeing property transactions to support organisational priorities
  • Championing Sustainability: Supporting carbon‑reduction and environmental initiatives across the estate
  • Providing Team Leadership: Managing and developing the Estates team to deliver high‑quality professional services
Candidate Requirements
Essential
  • Professional Qualification: Chartered membership of RICS
  • Estates Management Background: Previous experience in public sector or local government estates management
  • Strategic Planning Skills: Proven experience of developing and delivering policies and asset strategies
  • Property Portfolio Expertise: Experience with acquisitions, disposals and valuation processes
  • Leadership Ability: A background in managing and developing professional teams
Desirable
  • Registered Valuer Status: RICS Registered Valuer accreditation
  • Continuous Improvement Experience: Proven experience of service improvement within estates or property functions
