Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Director of Estates, providing leadership and strategic direction to the Estates team in all aspects of hard facilities management services.
- Leading the development of operational strategy, integrating services, and improving efficiency and effectiveness across all areas of hard FM service delivery.
- Delivering or overseeing projects from inception to completion, including developing delivery strategies, procuring consultant teams and contractors, managing project risks, carbon footprint, stakeholders, costs, and progress reporting, and securing approvals within allocated resources and quality expectations.
- Developing a long-term lifecycle maintenance plan based on asset information, surveys, and maintenance history, and adjusting it to align with available resources.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Managing all aspects of space asset data, maintaining accurate space information, assessing space use and utilization, and collaborating with stakeholders to optimize space efficiency.
- Overseeing the energy procurement strategy, monitoring its success, and making recommendations to balance risk, cost, and energy security.
- Providing leadership and guidance to the Sustainability team, focusing on scope 1 and 2 carbon reduction targets and university-wide sustainability initiatives.
The Person:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline with a professional qualification such as MRICS or MCIOB.
- Experience managing hard facilities management services, including maintenance, in a large, complex, multi-site environment, with a focus on culture change and customer service.
- Experience leading capital projects through all stages at a senior level.
- Strong knowledge of sustainability practices and their application within large organizations, especially in estates and facilities management.
