Client: Mining Remediation Authority

Role: Head of Health and Safety/Wellbeing and Facilities

Contract: 3-month FTC - Site based role

Main purpose of the job

To ensure competent advice and support to the Mining Remediation Authority to effectively manage health, safety, and wellbeing of all those affected by its activities.

The main requirements of the role are to:

• Develop and implement an effective HSW strategy supporting the organisation's business plan and risk management.
• Prepare, implement, monitor, audit, and review HSW policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and best practices.
• Manage the HSW (including CDM and Mining Regulations projects support team) and Facilities teams to meet corporate objectives.
• Support the Executive Leadership Team and department heads in delivering the business plan.
• Lead by example to influence a positive HSW culture across all levels and stakeholders.
• Manage the Mansfield Head Office and BGS satellite office, supporting business continuity planning.

Responsibilities

Specific

HSW management

• Support ELT and department heads in fulfilling their HSW responsibilities.
• Contribute to the People and Engagement Directorate's strategic and tactical objectives.
• Develop the HSW and Facilities team to support evolving business needs and standards.
• Stay informed of government and industry HSW policies, legislation, and best practices, advising senior management accordingly.
• Monitor and audit HSW systems and activities, recommending improvements.
• Act as the primary contact with regulatory agencies on health and safety matters.
• Prepare and present reports on HSW issues to ELT and Board.
• Assess the competence of supply chain partners and recommend suitability for work.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, leading formal investigations as needed.
• Maintain HSW skills and knowledge within the organisation.
• Have authority to halt work in case of serious risks or breaches.
• Promote a positive HSW culture aligned with organisational values.

Facilities Management

• Manage the Mansfield Head Office and BGS satellite office ensuring safety and security.
• Provide facilities support to other offices as needed.
