Job summary

Kiwi Associates Limited in Ipswich seeks an inspirational Head of English to lead a high‑performing English department for Key Stages 3–5. You will shape curriculum, drive standards and oversee teaching, learning and assessment across the school as part of the leadership team.

The role requires QTS, a passion for English, and the ability to motivate and develop staff while supporting the wider life of the school. This permanent post starts January 2027.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with QTS.
• Ability to teach English to A Level (preferred).
• Proven leadership and ability to develop a team.
• Commitment to outstanding outcomes for students.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Experience leading English Department (KS3-5).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the English department across Key Stages 3-5.
• Take responsibility for curriculum development and strategic leadership of English throughout the school.
• Drive high-quality teaching and learning.
• Raise standards of attainment and achievement.
• Monitor student progress and implement effective intervention strategies.
• Inspire, support and develop colleagues within the department.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school as a Form Tutor.
