Role Overview

The Service is seeking a dynamic leader with a passion for technology and innovation to join its Senior Leadership Team as the new Head of Digital, Data and Technology. Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Fire Officer, the successful candidate will be the driving force behind our IT and digital transformation agenda. The head of service will provide strategic direction and planning alongside operational management, ensuring effective delivery of all IT systems and services and championing a culture of continuous improvement using digital tools and technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic development of the ICT function and shape the future operating model.
  • Manage the transition from externally managed services, driving the re‑establishment of an internal ICT capability.
  • Develop and deliver new and transformational ways of working to improve performance, standards and compliance.
  • Champion continuous improvement and the adoption of innovative digital solutions across the Service.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Strong technical knowledge in digital, data and technology systems relevant to emergency services.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience leading large, complex technology teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a digital strategy that delivers measurable outcomes.
  • Experience managing operational budgets, procurement and vendor relationships for technology services.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and security requirements within the fire and rescue sector.
