Job summary

Nala Global Ltd is seeking an experienced Design Technology leader for a March-based secondary academy. The Head of Design Technology will drive the DT department, shape curriculum planning and support high teaching standards across KS3 and KS4.

The role requires strong leadership, a clear understanding of the KS3/KS4 DT syllabus, and prior experience in departmental development. Permanent, full-time position with a January 2027 start date in March, Cambridgeshire.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level.
• Experience leading or supporting a department.
• Good understanding of KS3/KS4 Design Technology curriculum.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Design Technology Teacher to join a secondary academy in March, Cambridgeshire, as Head of Design Technology.

The school is looking for a strong classroom practitioner who can take responsibility for the leadership and development of Design Technology across the academy. This could suit an existing Head of Design Technology, 2iC or Subject Lead, as well as an experienced DT Teacher with additional responsibilities who is ready to take the next step into departmental leadership.

The Role

• Lead and develop the Design Technology department


• Take responsibility for curriculum planning and development

The Ideal Candidate

• Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification


• Have strong experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level


• Have experience teaching areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Engineering or related DT specialisms


• Have previous leadership or additional responsibility experience, or are ready to step into their first Head of Department position


• Have a strong understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Design Technology curriculum


• Are confident leading curriculum development and supporting other teachers


• Have high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour
