About the role
Why the job exists
- To ensure the successful delivery of client projects – with central focus on quality and financial health of all projects, as the agency continues to scale.
- To implement processes across the project management team and ensure they are followed and optimised where needed.
- This role includes oversight of projects as well as leading and developing the Project management team.
What the job covers
- Overseas, manages, and develops the Delivery Team of 6 (PM to PD).
- Oversees all project set-up & kick-offs, to ensure projects are off to a good start.
- Checks in regularly with projects (project managers, client leads, technical leads, product leads, whole teams, etc.) to unearth project issues early.
- Is the first point of escalation for project issues and works to resolve them with the team, the various project leads, and client stakeholders where necessary; escalates further to the as appropriate.
- Proactively builds relationships with client stakeholders and is available to provide guidance, issue resolution and comfort during important or challenging project stages.
- Contributes to new business activities, particularly pitch development and pitch delivery.
- Reviews all Cost Estimates before they are sent to the client to ensure ways of working, scope, deliverables, timelines and dependencies are set up for success.
- Is a champion for the mindset of contemporary ways of working ( user-centred design, being transparent, delivering value early and often, collaboration, learning mindset, incremental and iterative delivery, etc.).
- Supports efforts to optimise and document our ways of working.
Reporting and Communication Structure
- The Head of Delivery reporting into the Head of Operations.
- Performance and progression are reviewed together with the Head of Operations.
- The Head of Delivery will be in close communication with the Head of Operations, Head of Client Services, EMEA Finance Director, and Business Development Director.
- The Head of Delivery liaises with all Client Services and Delivery staff on project quality, timings, and financial health.
What you’ll do
Business Development and Commercial Performance
- The Head of Delivery manages and leads the Delivery Team of 6, including career progression and process.
- Co-creates plans to improve skills, behaviours and mindset.
- Helps identify opportunities to grow and build on strengths. To do so, the Head of Delivery draws upon their commercial acumen and identifies opportunities to enhance margins and efficiency.
- Works alongside the Head of Client Services and the Talent Acquisition Team, and supports them with fee and contract negotiations for cost estimates, freelancer and supplier costs.
- Leads recruitment.
Leadership :
- Is the voice of the Delivery team, reporting to the Head of Operations.
- Ensures that the team is clear about the agency’s strategic direction.
- Helps us balance the needs of the business, our clients, and our people, as together we translate our strategy into action.
- Collaborates effectively in delivering against critical metrics for our business.
- Enforces Project Management best practice.
- Acts as single point of contact for all project management and delivery processes and ensures they are followed across teams and projects.
- Reviews and continuously improves PM systems / processes to ensure consistency, efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability across the Delivery Team and thus the agency overall.
