Job summary

M&G is seeking an experienced Head of Data Engineering to guide a growing team across London and India. You will own data ingestion, transformation and delivery on a Snowflake-centric platform, driving a modern, governed architecture built around data products.

You will lead a team across locations, set standards for ELT, data modelling, governance and DataOps, and partner with AI teams to bring AI into data engineering while retiring legacy platforms and reducing technical debt.

Qualifications

• Extensive data engineering leadership experience within Financial Services/Asset Management.
• Hands-on Snowflake platform implementation experience.
• Deep knowledge of modern data platforms, medallion/lakehouse patterns and ELT.
• Proven ability to design and deliver data products with AI/analytics integration.
• Experience embedding data governance tooling — catalogue, quality, lineage and observability.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, privacy, access controls and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to collaborate across data and wider technology teams and manage dependencies.

Responsibilities

• Shape a modern data platform, ingested and transformed data using Snowflake-centric architecture.
• Deliver governed data products with data contracts, metadata, and certification standards.
• Build and lead a high-performing data engineering team across locations (UK/India).
• Partner with AI and analytics teams to implement semantic models in data products.
• Migrate legacy data platforms to a scalable, cost-efficient data platform while minimizing disruption.
