Job summary

The AA in London is seeking a Head of Data Governance to design and embed the operating model that ensures trusted data across the Group. You will lead the rollout of governance, data domain ownership and quality monitoring on our modern lakehouse platform.

In this high-impact role, you will partner with senior leaders across Data, Technology, Risk, Compliance and the business to build a durable capability and translate governance into clear business value.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing, building and rolling out a critical data governance operating model within a large, complex or regulated organisation.
• Strong practical knowledge of data governance, data ownership, stewardship, lineage and data quality.
• Hands on experience selecting and deploying data governance tooling (Purview, Soda, GE, Databricks or similar).
• Understanding of risk, privacy and regulatory expectations in a controlled environment.
• Credible communicator who can influence senior leaders and build advocacy for governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, rollout and embedding of a data governance operating model across the Group.
• Define data domain ownership, stewardship, definitions, lineage, quality rules and service levels.
• Embed governance controls into business change and ensure data integrity in reporting and customer outcomes.
• Own oversight of data and reporting risk, including KRIs and audit actions across Data and AI.
• Lead a high-performing team with clear standards and opportunities for growth.
