Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing As Head of Corporate Assets, you’ll lead the strategic management of WYCA’s non‑transport assets, which could grow to a £1 billion portfolio. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering a Corporate Asset Management Strategy that aligns with WYCA’s regional goals.
  • Managing acquisitions, disposals, and commercial partnerships to maximise value and impact.
  • Overseeing the corporate asset register and asset management system, ensuring accurate data and robust governance.
  • Leading place‑based asset strategies in collaboration with partner organisations.
  • Driving income generation through lease management and capital receipts.
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety, legal, and financial regulations.
  • Building and leading a high‑performing team, fostering professionalism and innovation.
  • Influencing senior stakeholders across the organisation and externally to align asset decisions with strategic priorities.
The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will be a strategic, commercially minded leader with deep expertise in asset management, particularly across land and property portfolios. They will be a Chartered Surveyor (RICS) or hold an equivalent professional qualification, and bring extensive experience in leading multi‑disciplinary teams within large, complex organisations. They will be:

  • Strategic and visionary, able to shape and deliver a corporate asset strategy aligned with WYCA’s regional ambitions.
  • Financially astute, with a strong grasp of capital planning, income generation, and value‑for‑money principles.
  • A confident communicator, capable of influencing senior stakeholders, elected members, and external partners.
  • Collaborative and inclusive, committed to equity, diversity, and public value.
  • Resilient and adaptable, thriving in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with political and operational complexity.

They will also demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience in acquisitions, disposals, and commercial lease management.

Working Benefits & Arrangements
