Job summary

Solutionder Consultancy in London is seeking a Head of Compliance & MLRO for a growing fintech. This senior role takes ownership of the compliance and financial crime framework, working closely with senior leadership and the FCA.

The successful candidate will lead AML/CTF, oversee regulatory reporting, and develop policies for card schemes, acquiring, IBANs and related payments products, while fostering a strong compliance culture across the organisation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in compliance within financial services, payments or fintech.
• Head of Compliance/MLRO or equivalent senior leader within a regulated financial services organisation.
• Knowledge of card schemes and the payments ecosystem.
• Experience issuing and/or acquiring.
• Strong understanding of UK AML/CTF and financial services regulation.
• Experience engaging directly with the FCA.

Head of Compliance & MLRO – FinTech / Payments

London, UK - Hybrid

We are supporting an ambitious London-based fintech in the appointment of an experienced Head of Compliance & MLRO.

This is a key senior leadership position for an established compliance professional with strong experience within payments, fintech and card schemes, who can take ownership of the compliance and financial crime framework while working closely with senior leadership and the FCA.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the Compliance and AML/CTF functions
• Act as the firm's Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)
• Develop and maintain the firm's compliance policies, procedures, monitoring and control framework
• Provide regulatory guidance across card schemes, acquiring, issuing, IBANs/payment accounts and related payment products
• Lead compliance and financial crime risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls are maintained
• Oversee regulatory reporting and relevant FCA submissions
• Maintain effective engagement with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and other relevant regulatory stakeholders
• Conduct compliance reviews and support internal audit and assurance activities
• Monitor regulatory developments and ensure the firm's framework remains appropriate as the business grows
• Provide guidance and training across the organisation and promote a strong compliance culture
• Work closely with senior management and relevant business functions on regulatory and strategic matters
• Strong understanding of UK AML/CTF and financial services regulation

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years' experience in compliance within financial services, payments or fintech
• Previous experience operating as a Head of Compliance, MLRO, Deputy MLRO or equivalent senior compliance leader within a regulated financial services organisation
• Strong practical knowledge of card schemes and the payments ecosystem
• Experience across issuing and/or acquiring
• Strong understanding of UK AML/CTF and financial services regulation
• Demonstrable experience engaging directly with the FCA
• Experience developing and maintaining compliance frameworks within a regulated environment
• Strong leadership, judgement and stakeholder-management skills
• Ability to operate effectively within a growing and fast-paced fintech environment

Highly Desirable

• Experience within an FCA-regulated EMI, Payment Institution, fintech, acquirer or issuer
• Knowledge of payment accounts, IBANs and wider payment products
