We make health happen

At Bupa, we’re here to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives – and make a better world. With no shareholders, our customers are our focus. That means every decision we make is about improving health and care.

As Head of Compliance Advisory for our UK Insurance business, you’ll play a vital role in helping us meet our regulatory responsibilities while keeping our customers at the heart of everything we do. You’ll lead a team of Compliance Business Partners, offering expert advice and challenge to ensure our insurance operations are safe, fair and customer-focused.

This newly created role is a chance to shape how compliance works across our two regulated entities that are central to our UK business. You’ll be part of a team that’s brave, caring and responsible, and you’ll help us build a culture where doing the right thing is second nature.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the UK Insurance Compliance Business Partner team, providing guidance, development and an escalation route.
  • Partner with senior leaders across the business to offer practical, professional compliance advice and challenge.
  • Embed compliance into decision-making processes, helping leaders consider regulatory risk and customer impact.
  • Oversee new propositions, business operations and incident resolution to ensure a controlled and customer-centric approach.
  • Allocate resources effectively and prioritise activities to support business goals.
  • Collaborate with other advisory leads to ensure joined-up compliance coverage across the UK regulated entities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with business managers and act as a trusted advisor.
  • Support the Chief Compliance Officer and Advisory Director in driving a positive compliance and conduct culture.
  • Act as Deputy to the Advisory Director when needed, attending key forums and steering groups.
  • Stay on top of regulatory developments and feed insights into business systems and controls.
  • Support regulatory change and contribute to wider compliance initiatives across Bupa.
What we’re looking for

Essential:

  • Significant experience in a senior compliance advisory role in a leadership capacity, ideally within financial services.
  • Proven leadership experience, including coaching and developing teams.
  • Experience operating within a large matrix organisation
  • Strong understanding of FCA and PRA expectations.

Important:

  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal – with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to balance business needs with regulatory requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a focus on collaboration and results.
  • Analytical thinking and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • A self-starter who can work independently and manage multiple stakeholders.
Benefits

Our benefits are designed to make health happen for our people. Viva is our global wellbeing programme and includes all aspects of our health – from mental and physical, to financial, social and environmental wellbeing. We support flexible working and have a range of family-friendly benefits.

  • 25 days holiday, increasing through length of service, with option to buy or sell
  • Enhanced pension contributions
  • Private medical insurance (Family cover)
  • Target bonus of 25% based on individual and company performance
  • Access to our Viva wellbeing programme
  • Discounts on Bupa products and services
  • Opportunities for career development and learning
